ITT Corporation to introduce a line of new mechanical splices

Oilfield Technology,

ITT Corporation will introduce a line of new mechanical splices for deep water and extreme service wells at the Electric Submersible Pump workshop, April 22-24 in The Woodlands, Texas.

“Our new line of Presta™ products reimagines ESP electrical cable splicing,” said John Dutil, general manager of ITT’s Interconnect Solutions Oil & Gas business unit. “Not only do they offer longer lifetimes in the harshest conditions, they are faster to assemble, accommodate different-sized cables on either end and require no special expertise to install.”

BIW will debut two new products in the Presta™ family of mechanical splices, engineered to reliably deliver power to submerged pumps in high-temperature, high-pressure wells.

  • The Presta™ Deep Water Mechanical Splice is designed for extreme pressures in excess of 15000 psi, as well as the repetitive pressure cycling conditions prevalent in deep water production.
  • The Presta™ Extreme Service Mechanical Splice is built to resist harsh conditions, including temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit/204 degrees Celsius, pressures up to 5000 psi and high gas concentrations often experienced in downhole conditions below the packer.

Presta™ Mechanical Splices, which use BIW’s patented k-PaC™ Technology, offer customers outstanding performance and ultra-long lifetimes in a significantly wider range of harsh well conditions. These splices offer consistent results without specific craft knowledge, allow for the connection of different cables and are faster to install than conventional splices. BIW’s patented k-PaC™ Technology will debut at ESP Workshop 2015.
