Saltel Industries (a Schlumberger company), pioneer in the development of expandable steel solutions, announces 100th ECP installation in Australia since their first field trial in 2015.

Saltel ECP-W is a steel barrier in the annulus allowing to perform stage or off-bottom cementing operations during drilling and well construction phase.

The month of November 2017 witnessed the successful run & installation of the 100th Saltel Steel ECP-W 7 in. in Australia since the first trial in December 2015.

The use of ECPs with stage collar is systematic. Saltel Steel Packers are used for Off-bottom cementing operations, in shallow coal seam gas wells. Most of CSG wells come with the following design: 7 in. production casing with a pre-perforated uncemented section inside the Coal Seam and a blank section cemented from the top of the Coal Seam, (average 400 - 500 m True Vertical Depth) to surface.

Thousands of wells are yet to be drilled in the Queensland, to meet LNG export expectations of the client.
