James Walker Moorflex nets FMC supply contract

Oilfield Technology,

James Walker Moorflex has reached a milestone with one of its major customers in achieving globally qualified supplier status with FMC Technologies.

One of only two companies to have achieved this status for the supply of the full range of high, medium and low technology critical metallic components, JW Moorflex worked with FMC Technologies for almost two years to achieve its goal.

Subsea products

FMC Technologies designs, manufactures and services technologically complex systems and products such as subsea production and processing systems, surface wellhead systems and high pressure fluid control equipment for which James Walker Moorflex manufactures high-precision, specialised metallic components to FMC’s exacting specifications and design.

Following an initial tender submission for metallic seals in 2012, James Walker Moorflex underwent multiple customer audit procedures to verify such areas as technical competence in manufacturing and quality control. It has also worked in partnership with FMC Technologies to develop documentation procedures that cover the entire process from specifying through every stage of manufacturing to final inspection and shipment.

Comments

Jerry Simms, Product Director, commented: “Our appointment as a globally qualified supplier applies to both surface and subsea components, although the majority of projects are subsea applications, which is the more demanding work.

“The production techniques we have developed over the years in machining complex components from hard-to-work alloys, has placed us in a good position. But it is our knowledge of the applications, industry standards, and the detailed documentation, that has enabled us to achieve this important status with a global leader such as FMC Technologies.”
