Wellesley Petroleum AS: Dry well north of the Statfjord field in the North Sea – 33/9-22 S

The well was drilled in the northern part of the North Sea, about one kilometre north of the Statfjord field.

The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks (“Munin” sandstone in the Draupne formation).

The well encountered about 50 m of aquiferous “Munin” sandstone with very good reservoir quality. The well is dry.

Data has been acquired.

This is the first exploration well in production licence 881. The licence was awarded in APA 2016.

33/9-22 S was drilled to a vertical and measured depth of 2692 and 2707 m below the sea surface, respectively, and was terminated in the Draupne formation. Water depth is 226.5 m. The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 33/9-22 S was drilled by the Deep Sea Bergen drilling facility.
