SCA secures US contract award with Kosmos Energy for an onshore umbilical storage carousel

The Netherlands-headquartered business manufactures and operates one of the largest fleets of cable carousels in the sector. This new award for a newly designed 1000 t carousel will support umbilical storage and handling operations for an onshore project in Mobile, Alabama, USA.

SCA’s team will engineer, manufacture and deliver the carousel system, which is scheduled for 4Q26. The carousel will be delivered by SCA and assembled on site under the supervision of SCA’s specialist team. Once installed, it will provide controlled quayside storage for Kosmos Energy’s subsea umbilical system, supporting safe storage and readiness for future deployment.

SCA COO Sil de Rijke said: “Securing this contract with Kosmos Energy further demonstrates our capability in this specialist area of cable handling and storage. SCA supplies specialist equipment – carousels, loading towers and tensioners – and brings the experienced crews and project expertise to deploy it effectively, across offshore wind, interconnector, oil and gas and subsea cable projects worldwide.
