This facility is a further development of the Valhall field. West Flank is an unmanned facility with twelve well slots, and it is tied to the Valhall field centre.
Valhall is located in the southern part of the Norwegian shelf, 290 km from land. Aker BP is operator for the field.
The reserves are estimated at 9.6 million standard m3 of oil equivalents (approximately 60 million bbl). The reserve estimate is a median value, and indicates some uncertainty regarding how much can be recovered.
The investment estimate when the Plan for Development and Operation was submitted was 5.4 billion 2018-NOK.
“Valhall West Flank is an important measure for further exploitation of the resources in a mature field,” says Tove Francke, the NPD’s Assistant director for development and operations, North Sea South.
