RCP has been awarded a six-figure contract to supply control systems to Awilco Drilling’s semi-submersible drilling unit, the WilPhoenix.

RCP headquarters are located in Aberdeen. The company has been supplying control and instrumentation equipment to the global oil and gas industry for more than a decade.

The control system upgrade on the WilPhoenix will provide AWDR with enhanced operational capabilities, including a state of the art blowout preventer (BOP) control system with touchscreen HMIs, a BOP event-logger which accurately monitors the BOP performance, new BOP control panels, and a full HPHT system upgrade including a gate valve control system (GVCS).

Since AWDR’s inception, RCP has supplied and installed a wide variety of control systems to the drilling contractor. AWDR has procured supporting engineering services from RCP for these projects, with the latest control systems due to be delivered in Q4 2015.

The WilPhoenix is one of AWDR’s two enhanced pacesetter semi-submersibles and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1200 ft.
