Oilfield Technology,
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted A/S Norske Shell a drilling permit for well 6304/3-1, cf. Section 15 of the Resource Management Regulations.
Well 6304/3-1 will be drilled from the Scarabeo 8 drilling facility at position 63°48'5.90" North and 4°52'18.41" East after completing the drilling of wildcat well 34/5-2 S for A/S Norske Shell in production licence 373 S.
The drilling programme for well 6304/3-1 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 832. A/S Norske Shell is the operator with an ownership interest of 45%. The other licensees are Petoro AS (20%), Spirit Energy Norge AS (20%) and DEA Norge AS (15%). The area in this licence consists of the southern part of blocks 6404/12 and 6406/10, all of block 6304/3 and the northern part of block 6305/1. The well will be drilled about 40 km northwest of the Ormen Lange field.
Production licence 832 was awarded on 5 February 2016 in APA 2015 on the Norwegian shelf. This is the first well to be drilled in the licence.
The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
