Total announces that the Fort Hills oil sands project located in Alberta, Canada, 90 km north of Fort McMurray, has achieved first oil and production is expected to ramp up over the next few months.

Total announces a major oil discovery in the Ballymore prospect, located deep offshore in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico (Eastern GoM). The well was drilled to a final depth of 8898 m and encountered 205 m of net oil pay in a high quality Norphlet reservoir.

These companies represent 61% of US shale oil production in 2018 and were chosen for their focus on oil output.

The new exploration discoveries are Capercaillie, which it a 100% owner of, and Achmelvich, which it has a majority stake in.

The agreement is for Shell’s stake in Blocks 15, 16 and 17 and Block G12/48.

At least one well will be drilled to follow-up and appraise the Verbier oil discovery this year.

The well reached a total depth of 7717 ft MD in 22 days and ahead of schedule. First production from all three wells is expected March 2018.
