The well in licence VIC/P43 intersected a gross gas column of 69.5 m in the Upper Waarre Formation, including 62.9 m of net gas pay, with a gaswater contact intersected at 1990 m measured depth.

Preliminary estimates place the size of the discovery between 12 and 19 million m3 of recoverable oil equivalent, corresponding to 75-120 million bbl of recoverable oil equivalent.

The grants are part of the Australian government’s Beetaloo Strategic Basin Plan to bring gas from the Beetaloo’s resources into the market by 2025.

Recoverable resources at exploration well 7220/7-4 in production licence 532 are so far estimated at between 5 and 8 million m3 of recoverable oil, corresponding to 31 – 50 million bbl of recoverable oil.

The second phase will expand on the phase one acquisition initiated in 2020 to add a second azimuth over CGG’s existing Northern Viking Graben 3D survey offshore Norway.

The approximately two-month survey is expected to commence in 3Q21 covering an estimated 2700 km2.
