Asset Guardian Solutions Ltd (AGSL), which specialises in managing and protecting companies’ 'hidden assets' such as process critical software, announced that it has appointed Mark Steel to the position of Business Development Manager for the United Kingdom.

The decision to bring Steel on-board the business development team is part of AGSL’s plans to further strengthen its market niche in the UK as the leading supplier of process control software asset protection.

“There is so much more that companies in the UK can do to protect their process critical software assets in order that operations run smoothly. They simply aren’t aware of how simple it can be with AGSL and its specialists software offerings in place,” said Steel. “By raising awareness among industries - such as manufacturing, food and beverage, energy and transportation - that rely upon critical, secure process control software to operate, I look forward to opening doors to new opportunities and building a consistent revenue stream for AGSL.”

In his new role, Steel cultivates relationships with existing and prospective clients in the UK, and is fully committed to increasing the profile of AGSL’s complete portfolio of capabilities, software products/solutions, and professional consulting services.

Expanding market niche in UK

“Although it’s currently very strong, we’re extremely keen to expand our presence in the UK,” said Sam Mackay, Chief Executive of AGSL. “With Mark’s in-depth experience in the software industry and knowledge of our targeted industry sectors, I’m confident that he will help our clients continue to receive outstanding service, and effectively nurture new business relationships throughout the UK.”

With 33 years in technology and special expertise in the role that technology plays in a process and manufacturing setting, Steel understands what organisations require when it comes to optimising and protecting their process control software assets. Before joining AGSL, Steel was employed by PMI Software as Business Development Manager for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. Throughout his career, he has worked in a variety of similar roles with major technology firms across the UK.

Steel holds an MSc Degree in Manufacturing, Management & Technology from the Open University. He is an active member of Manufacturing UK, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Enterprise Software Sales Professionals, and Manufacturing Executives in the UK.

Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Steel is based in Cheshire, England and reports to Sam Mackay, who is based at the AGSL global headquarters in Livingston, Scotland.

Building on success

AGSL’s extensive portfolio of energy clients includes INPEX, Woodside, Stena Drilling, GDF SUEZ E&P UK, BP (Quad 204 and Clair Ridge), McDermott, Dana Petroleum, Nexen Petroleum UK, Dolphin Drilling, and major utility companies, such as EDF Energy (Torness), SSE and ScottishPower. The company also serves food and beverage clients Müller Milk and Ingredients (formerly Robert Wiseman Dairies) and Diageo, and pharmaceuticals company Johnson Matthey (Macfarlan-Smith).
