GEODynamics introduces ISOLOC™ perforating for remedial cementing

GEODynamics has introduced ISOLOC plug and abandonment, specialised-perforating systems for remedial cementing and circulation.

ISOLOC perforating systems are used to establish communication between two or more strings of tubing or casing. The systems greatly improve cement plugging, squeeze and circulation operations with controlled damage to the secondary or tertiary string. Perforating for remedial cementing operations without damaging the outer strings of casing is an essential element to efficient plug and abandonment (P&A) and well circulation operations.

High risks and rig time costs are typically associated with previous options for P&A and/or squeeze jobs. The new ISOLOC perforating systems reduce both risk and rig time, allowing operators to optimize remedial intervention efficiencies. Some operators have reduced the time to complete a job by as much as 90%.

John Hardesty, GEODynamics’ Vice President of Engineering and Product Development, said: “Plugging wells properly by first perforating with ISOLOC systems helps prevent future environmental issues related to leakage, and preserves profits otherwise eroded by remediation.”

There are thousands of idle land wells along with wells at the end of their producing life ready to be plugged. Offshore in the North Sea, Asia Pacific, and the Gulf of Mexico there are many oil and gas fields that are expected to cease production in the next five years and over 3000 wells in the UK alone that will require plugging over the next 25 years or so.

“With the new ISOLOC perforating systems, GEODynamics is well positioned to participate in this growing and specialised market,” said David Ambler, GEODynamics' Perforating Product Line Manager.
