Simmons Edeco appoints new CEO

Simmons Edeco, a leading global oilfield service provider, has announced the appointment of Niels Versfeld as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October, 2017.
Versfeld brings in-depth management experience in the oil and gas industry, with particular emphasis upon building and leading growth initiatives. “For 55 years, SIMMONS EDECO has challenged boundaries and borders in global energy solutions. The company remains firmly dedicated to helping customers optimise production, while exploring new efficiencies and opportunities to provide to the global oil and gas industry,” says Simmons Edeco Board of Directors member Jay Simmons. “With his impressive track record in growing North American oilfield services businesses and ‘people first’ mentality, we’re confident that Niels Versfeld will build upon our traditions of exploration and service excellence, and lead the company to help us create value through growth and operational discipline.”
With 14 years of experience in the energy industry, Versfeld dedicated 10 years to managing sales, operations and business development for energy services companies. Before joining Simmons Edeco, he served as General Manager of Gibson Energy’s Environmental Services Division, during which time he was instrumental in expanding the company’s businesses in Canada and the United States. Previously, he worked as Chief Operations Officer for Palko Environmental, until it was acquired by Gibson Energy in 2011. Throughout the course of his career, Versfeld has worked in a variety of roles, initially as an environmental consultant serving the energy sector, and as an Environment & Regulatory Manager for CCS Corp.
