A team from Bridon, global technology leader in the manufacture of wire and fibre rope, are set to take MORE to the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas next month (2 - 5 May).

The Bridon MORE philosophy is focused on the delivery of operating cost savings to customers through a unique combination of rope forensic and inquest expertise, applications experts, site services and new product offerings. All of which combine to deliver unparalleled extension to rope operating life.

Part of this approach is the MORE programme which combines Bridon’s two decades of expertise in forensic analysis with the knowledge of their applications experts working together to extend the operating life of their ropes, significantly reducing rope operating costs for customers.

Gavin Turner from Bridon, said:

“We are delighted to be able to say that we are taking MORE to OTC for our customers.“Globally companies are looking at their costs and demanding more and we are able to provide that. OTC is the perfect event for us to officially launch our MORE philosophy.

“With our expertise, site services and MORE programme we can help companies and we are looking forward to seeing visitors to our stand (2641-A) at the show.”

By analysing sections of rope Bridon can determine its internal and external condition and verify the mechanical properties of the rope and individual wires to understand how much they have changed from the ‘as manufactured’ condition.

This new approach will provide customers with a greater understanding of how their ropes behave in application, enabling them to make more informed decisions when setting rope change-out policy and ton mile / ton cycle goals. This in turn can make them significant rope operating cost savings which is key in today’s climate.

Founded in 1969, OTC’s flagship conference held annually in Houston is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources, offering unprecedented networking and knowledge in the fields of offshore drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection.

More than 94 700 attendees from 130 countries gathered at the annual conference last year, demonstrating OTC’s position as the leading forum to exchange ideas and opinions to advance scientific and technical knowledge for the safe, environmentally friendly and sustainable development of offshore oil and gas resources.

“Visitors to our stand will be able to find out more about our MORE programme and learn about the development of our Intelligent Ropes (IR) which are working harder and lasting longer,” added Gavin.
