Halliburton's Multibranch Inflow Control System wins award

Oilfield Technology,

Halliburton announced that its FlexRite® Multibranch Inflow Control (MIC) system was awarded E&P’s Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation at the Offshore Technology Conference.

Innovative technologies

The Hart’s Meritorious Award for Engineering Achievement, established in 1971, honours the world’s best new technologies for finding, developing and producing oil and gas wells. Entries are judged on their significance as game-changers by a panel of industry experts with engineering and technical backgrounds.

The FlexRite MIC system is an innovative multilateral junction and completion system that allows a multilateral well to be completed with sand screens, swellable packers, Inflow Control Devices, and Internal Control Valves to help maximise oil production from each multilateral leg. It is the world’s first multilateral completion system that provides sand control at the junction and the ability to remotely control the flow of each individual branch of a multilateral well with three or more legs, without costly subsea intervention.

Comments

Ahmed Kenawi, VP of Halliburton’s Sperry Drilling business line commented: “We are proud of this award and the capabilities demonstrated by the FlexRite MIC system. Sperry Drilling has once again demonstrated leadership in multilateral technology innovation, helping operators to improve well management with greater flexibility, optimise production rates and enhance oil recovery.”
