Petrofac Training Services (PTS) has teamed up with Cactus Industrial Limited, sole UK and Ireland distributor of the Monti Bristle Blaster® technology, to expand its training course portfolio.

Operation of the hand-held, easy-to-use tool, which can remove corrosion and coatings on offshore equipment, has been added to PTS’ OPITO-accredited Blaster/Sprayer Training and Competence courses following a successful ‘train the trainer’ programme.

The technology delivers significant benefits including the ability to operate in explosive atmospheres whilst eliminating the need for complex abrasive blast equipment, saving both time and money. It can also be accurately applied without affecting other surfaces.

Gordon Caird, Regional Director at PTS, said:

“Extending and enhancing our existing training portfolio to suit the needs of the industry is extremely important to us. The Monti Bristle Blaster® is gaining great momentum offshore because of the tangible benefits it delivers. Like any new technology, it is essential that users are able to get the most out of them whilst being safe and competent.”

Gordon Cairns, Technical Manager at Cactus Industrial Limited, added: “Aligning the tool with a reputable training provider in the UK was a priority for us and so we were delighted to welcome PTS on board as our first partner. Amidst a challenging industry environment, we are seeing a real increase in demand for this high performance tool so it is important for us to have fully trained professionals operating the 700 Monti Bristle Blasters® currently offshore around the world.

“This partnership stands us in good stead as we look to not only increase the number of competent users but the use of it offshore.”
