Global oilfield services firm RMEC has appointed an oil and gas industry veteran to boost its operations as it prepares for its next stage of international growth.

Vic Allan has joined the company from American multinational corporation, Halliburton, where he spent 28 years working his way up through the slickline division. Most recently, he oversaw a team of 120 in the department servicing a large portfolio of clients in the UK and Europe. In this role, he was responsible for ensuring the company delivered efficient slickline operations and met challenging customer requirements.

Mr Allan also brings with him a wealth of global operator knowledge and experience to RMEC and has a successful track record of supporting some of the industry’s biggest organisations including Shell, Chevron and ConocoPhillips.

RMEC was founded 15 years ago and specialises in the maintenance, pressure testing, recertification, manufacture, build, supply and rental of well services equipment to the oil and gas industry. The south of Aberdeen headquartered company has also recently employed its first modern apprentice. Kai Livingston from Forfar joined the firm in August and is studying for a Mechanical Engineering HNC qualification at Dundee & Angus College while gaining first-hand experience working at RMEC’s facility.

Mr Allan said: “This is an exciting time to be joining RMEC. It’s a business which has built its reputation on a strong foundation of technical excellence delivered by a talented and loyal workforce of engineering personnel. I’m looking forward to working closely with the leadership team to further develop the structure within RMEC and help to build on what has already been achieved.”

RMEC managing director Bryan Fagan, said: “Attracting someone of Vic’s stature to oversee the operational side of the business is a real coup. With almost three decades of sectoral experience and management under his belt, his appointment will support and enhance our team’s technical capabilities and increase our revenue lines as we start our next phase of growth in line with our strategic plans for the UK and international markets.

“Vic’s expert knowledge of running a busy division will stand him in good stead at RMEC where projects have ramped up considerably since the downturn. His experience will also be invaluable for supporting the workforce and especially the younger generation coming up through the ranks, including our first mechanical engineering apprentice, Kai, as he begins his career journey.”

RMEC is exhibiting on stand 22 at the SPE ICoTA 25th European Well Intervention Conference in Aberdeen 13th and 14th November.
