Offshore engineering firm Aquaterra Energy is set to transform the integrity management process with the launch of its new Riser Monitoring System (RMS).

The analytic equipment will enhance health and safety, increase asset life extension and deliver cost savings for the industry.

Eric Doyle, regional director for Aquaterra Energy in Europe, said: “We listen closely to our clients. We know that a heightened sensitivity towards health and safety and project critical risks associated with riser fatigue means ingenuity in riser integrity management is urgent.

“We are world leading drilling riser specialists and believe this system is unique in the marketplace. It will give our customers operational peace of mind that they are operating at the safest level as it generates accurate and real-time results on the fatigue life of riser systems. The RMS design utilises a combination of direct riser strain measurement, subsea data logging and riser analysis processing algorithms.

“This will prevent a riser system being continually used despite having a depleted fatigue life and avoid a systems being scrapped too early, when money and time could be saved by safely extending its life. This would both increase profitability and minimise project risk”, he continued.

Aquaterra Energy specialises in offshore engineering solutions within four business streams including riser systems, offshore structures, hydraulic systems and service and rental.

Mr Doyle added: “We have already won a contract to supply the RMS to a client on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for which we are creating a bespoke system. We are confident the product will add value to our client projects in the UK too.

“There is a strong market for tried and tested, simple and well engineered equipment. This is what Aquaterra Energy specialises in. We can offer both traditional solutions at a good cost as well as tailored systems to increase peace of mind, enhance safety and ultimately boost businesses’ bottom line.”

Aquaterra Energy will be exhibiting and presenting at this week’s Subsea Expo conference at the Aberdeen Exhibition Conference Centre.
