The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Statoil Petroleum AS a drilling permit for well 7435/12-1, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 7435/12-1 will be drilled from the Songa Enabler drilling facility at position 74°4’18.21’’N and 35°48’31.06’’E following completion of drilling of wildcat well 7325/4-1 for Statoil Petroleum AS in production licence 855.

The drilling program for well 7435/12-1 concerns the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 859.

Statoil Petroleum AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 30%. The other licensees are Chevron Norge AS (20 per cent), Petoro AS (20%), ConocoPhillips Scandinavia (15%) and Lundin Norway AS (15%).

The area in this licence consists of the blocks 7335/1, 7335/2, 7335/3, 7336/1, 7434/7, 7434/8, 7434/9, 7435/9, 7435/10, 7435/11, 7435/12 and 7436/10. The well will be drilled about 320 km northeast of 7225/3-1 (Norvarg), about 365 km northeast of discovery well 7324/8-1 (Wisting) in production licence 537 and about 415 km from the coast.

Production licence 859 was awarded in the 23rd licensing round in 2016. This is the first well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator having secured all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling activity starts.
