Marine services company Malin Group has appointed oil and gas expert Alan Hunter in a new business development role, as the company looks to continue its growth in the sector.

With a presence in the marine industry stretching back over 100 years, Malin has become an increasingly important partner for Scotland’s oil and gas industry, offering technical engineering expertise in transportation, chartering, equipment and fabrication.

Hunter brings over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector, where he worked with companies including Exxon, Shell, DHL and Worley on major construction projects and operating plants.

As Business Development Manager, he will focus on showcasing Malin’s offerings as they combine heritage with innovation to deliver technical solutions, and in doing so, strengthening Malin’s engineering links with the industry.

He explained: “I’ve worked in oil and gas my whole life and during my time at DHL Industrial Projects, I was fortunate enough to work with Malin on a very successful project in which their technical expertise and input was critical.

“The Malin name is synonymous with quality and the technical engineering services they offer are, I think, of particular value to the oil and gas sector. I am excited about demonstrating the extent of that expertise to a wider audience within the industry and the value it can add to their businesses.”

Alan joins Malin from Worley Parsons, where he was Logistics Manager on the Tullow Oil Kenya project, successfully delivering the project logistics strategy as part of FEED. He brings extensive supply chain management and logistics skills.

John MacSween, Malin Group Managing Director said: “As an organisation, we value innovation combined with expertise, reflected through a customer focused approach. Alan’s appointment will enable us to further grow our range of specialist services to deliver real benefit to our client base.

“Teamed with the Malin focus on developing relationships and strategic partnerships, I believe our recent appointments will cement the group’s presence as a key partner to the marine industry.”
