Logan Industries to supply CCTLF system for Maersk’s drillship Maersk Voyager

Logan Industries, based in Hempstead Texas, has recently been awarded with an order for a Compensated Coiled Tubing Lift Frame (CCTLF) for Maersk Drilling, who owns one of the most modern drilling fleets and provides drilling services to oil companies around the world. The CCTLF system will be designed and built in-house and is expected to be delivered to Maersk in Q2 2016.

Logan Industries will supply a complete CCTLF system to Maersk Drilling, which includes an APV, a dedicated Hydraulic Power System, Emergency Shut Down equipment and a control package. The system will be certified under DNV E101 and D.R.O.P.S. and has been designed in accordance with API 8C and ANSI B31.3. The order also includes a CCTLF services contract, meaning Logan Industries will take care of service and preservation of Maersk Drilling’s CCTLF for the duration of the work.

The CCTLF will be installed on board the Maersk Voyager where it will be used for coiled tubing operations on the Offshore Cape Three Point Project offshore Ghana. The Maersk Voyager is one of Maersk Drilling’s latest ultra deepwater drillships. The ship can operate in water depths up to 3600 m/12 000 ft.

This will make the fourth 750t static/500 t CCTLF that Logan Industries has built and positions Logan as the predominant leader in this specialised sub-sea completion category. It is the next order in an impressive line of orders Logan received from customers like Exxon Mobil, Chevron and BP.

Next to in-house design, engineering, manufacturing and installation of CCTLF systems, Logan offers servicing, long term maintenance and storage at their premises as well. Logan’s full range of support services is not limited to systems manufactured by Logan, but includes systems built by competitors that are owned by drilling contractors or oil companies as well. Logan is in the process of opening a facility in Louisiana where CCTLF’s can be stored in an enclosed area, maintained and made operationally ready.

It is no surprise customers have been able to find Logan as their supplier of CCTLF systems. Even though being a relatively young player in the market Logan has built an impressive resume in the market and is a recognized leader in specialised large bore cylinder and compensation type equipment.

This shows Logan’s commitment to the offshore drilling, sub-sea intervention and completion market in providing innovative technological solutions to meet the ever changing needs in the offshore drilling market.
