EM&I develop diverless robotic techniques to minimise POB

EM&I have developed a range of diverless, robotic and digital technologies which will help to achieve this objective. Their diverless ODIN® under water inspection in lieu of drydocking (UWILD) for hull and valve inspections & repair, and NoMan® remote camera & laser technologies for tanks and difficult to access areas, have reduced personnel requirements, safety risk, cost and carbon footprint over the last 5 years and are now increasingly in demand as operators deal with the challenges of mobilising people to floating asset fleets worldwide.
The diverless, HullGuard® system follows the same principle of reducing diver intervention by using a ‘periscope type’ anode inserted from inside the hull through class approved ODIN access ports and then linked to an impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) system that can send information on system performance to the shore base without human intervention.
Further developments such as their ExPert™ technology for inspecting all the hazardous area electrical equipment (HAEE) in a fraction of the time and cost normally required; LORIS™ for diverless anchor chain inspections & repairs, and WallGuard™ for pressure vessels are also now being introduced.
“All these technologies are safer, smarter & greener but equally importantly minimise the challenge of moving people to site in these difficult times.
We have stepped up our technical development and associated training programmes to meet increased demand for remote integrity services and are working hard to support our clients as they ensure the safe operation of their plant in these unprecedented times,” commented Danny Constantinis (Executive Chairman) of the EMI Group.
