A leading provider of fire control and safety solutions has been presented with a prestigious accolade by a major industry body in recognition of its commitment to safety innovation.

Blaze Manufacturing Solutions (Blaze), which was established in 2006 to serve the global oil and gas and renewables markets, was presented with the Associate Members Award at the IADC North Sea Chapter Safety Awards dinner, due to its technical innovation efforts to reduce operational risk in the industry.

New initiatives and achievements

The Associate Members Award recognises new initiatives and achievements in safety over the past 12 months, including schemes to improve safety performance, environmental projects, safety management initiatives and technical and operational innovations that reduce risk.

Blaze, which is headquartered in Laurencekirk, offers fire safety protection, detection and loss prevention solutions for harsh and challenging environments including offshore production platforms, drill rigs, floating production units, onshore oil fields, terminals, refineries and petrochemical plants. The company’s specialist capabilities include project evaluation, detailed design, implementation, commissioning and servicing of the whole fire and safety spectrum.

The firm received its latest award in recognition of its innovative Flameshield 300™ system, which utilises DNV approved flexible pipework. The product offers the delivery of a jet fire resistant, blast resistant, corrosion resilient fire protection system with a 20-year design life, eliminating corrosion problems for the client during its lifetime operation. Flameshield can be installed in a hazardous area without hot working, allowing production to continue during construction, thereby saving on downtime.

Managing director of Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, Howard Johnson, said:

“Safety is at the core of everything we do at Blaze, and is considered during the research and development stages of all of our systems. It is an honour to be recognised by the IADC North Sea Chapter as a leader in this field and it is with special thanks to our experienced engineering team who are committed to developing fire protection systems that continue to push the industry forward.”
