In December 2019, Jumbo – the heavy lift shipping and offshore T&I contractor – awarded KENC with multiple engineering assignments. The scope entailed engineering and FEM calculations to prepare Jumbo’s ‘Fairplayer’ – a DP 2 heavy lift crane vessel (HLCV) – for an FPSO installation job offshore Brazil.
The assignments included engineering of a 192 t gypsy winch grillage and an overboarding tool to handle 120 t torpedo piles. FEM calculations were performed on all constructions including the effects on local hull structure. Within four months KENC successfully delivered all calculations and engineering work to full satisfaction of Jumbo.
Jeroen Alberts, lead engineer at Jumbo: “We are very happy with the pleasant collaboration. KENC delivered well on time and made a positive impact on the lead time of the project.”
