Construction of UK subsea engineering facility begins

The £3.5 million investment in a 48 000 ft² purpose-built centre will enable Express Engineering to help support expansion into new global markets.

When the centre comes onstream in late 2020, an additional 30 skilled engineering roles will have been created, primarily involved in manufacturing connection systems and other subsea technologies.

Construction in Gateshead comes as Express Engineering sees strong business growth with revenues on target to reach £40m during this year. The company has also recruited around 100 people in the last 12 months taking the workforce to more than 235.

Investment is part of a focus by Express Engineering on an expanded product strategy to supply assembled and tested actuators, connection systems and tooling for wellheads and subsea tree structures for the oil and gas sector.
