Statoil has received consent to drill an exploration well in the Barents Sea.

Well 7325/4-1 is in the Hoop area in the Barents Sea, around 275 km from Nordkapp and 200 km from Bjørnøya (Bear Island).
The drilling location's geographical coordinates will be:
- 73° 38’ 57.74 N
- 25° 10’ 41.91 E
Water depth at the site is 447 m.
The drilling is estimated to last for 19 days, and is scheduled to start in June.
The well is to be drilled by Songa Enabler, which is a semisubmersible mobile drilling facility of the CAT D type. Songa Enabler was delivered by the Daewoo yard in South Korea in 2016, and is owned and operated by Songa Offshore. The facility is registered in Norway and classified by DNV GL.
Songa Enabler was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in July 2016.
