Aberdeen-based Maritime Assurance & Consulting (MAC) is celebrating a key business milestone, reporting more than £5 million of revenue in its fifth year of trading.

The firm has added two new business streams to its suite of services and is anticipating a 10% increase in staff numbers in 2016, as it celebrates its fifth birthday.

MAC provides consultancy and support services to the worldwide marine, construction, drilling, floating production and decommissioning industries.

Graeme Reid, managing director of MAC, said:

“With the dramatic slide in world oil prices, this has undoubtedly been a difficult year for business in the North East.

“With careful planning and efficiency savings, we are delighted we have been able to maintain our position in the market while offering the same quality service to our customers. We have developed further business streams, bolstering the integrated service we can offer clients.

“One of these streams includes compliance services. This is an area we have been able to expertly advise our clients on for a number of years. It helps make sure they are prepared for, and are meeting the latest legislation and code requirements, to the benefit of their operations.

“Under this new umbrella there are a number of niche areas including safety management systems, quality assurance and quality control, marine and offshore legislation, vessel administration and environmental audits.

“It’s particularly important in the current economic climate, to make sure we are still investing to weather the storm and safeguard the industry’s future.

“We are also delighted to have the opportunity to bring some new team members on board this year. We have always valued the importance of supporting our existing team by adding fresh faces and new ideas, and have grown our staff numbers year in and year out. This blend of knowledge and experience means we can provide the best service possible to our clients.

“We have built a very strong business on the foundation of the experience we have in our team and hold a tremendous amount of knowledge within MAC. This coupled with the fact that we have built an enviable culture in our organisation will mean we can continue to attract some of the best talent in the country.

“Our staff ensure the projects they undertake are completed to the highest of standards. We are experiencing growth throughout the business, including internationally, with increasingly positive advances in the United States.

“Our team is committed to being the best in the field and is ready to charge ahead this year in the pursuit of excellence.”
