Baker Hughes awarded Statoil production contract

Statoil Petroleum AS has awarded an eight-year contract for the design and supply of production chemicals to the offshore Norne field and the deepwater Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea, to Baker Hughes.

Baker Hughes is a leading supplier of oilfield services, products and systems to the oil and natural gas industry, making it suitable for this contract.

Work is expected to begin in July 2015 and the contract also includes a four-year extension option.

Supply to the Norne and Aasta Hansteen field

The Norne field is on the Norne FPSO platform in the Norwegian Sea. The field was initially scheduled to be shut down in 2014, but through systemic maintenance and advancements in technology it is now expected to produce until 2030.

The Aasta Hansteen field is the first deepwater development in the Norwegian Sea. Production is anticipated to commence in 2017, and the field is expected to produce beyond 2030.
