Exova, the global testing company, has been awarded a contract with McDermott to deliver a range of testing services for offshore fabrication projects in the oil and gas sector.
Working from its Abu Dhabi laboratory, with support from Al Futtaim Exova Metallurgy in Dubai, Exova will provide weld procedure qualification; welder qualification; coatings procedure approval; and component forensic analysis in support of McDermott’s structural and pipeline production welding facility.
Exova will conduct various tests to provide the qualifications, including mechanical, fracture mechanics, and sour gas corrosion testing, as well as coatings and failure analysis.
Neil Hold, UAE Operations Manager at Exova, said: “McDermott recently won several offshore fabrication contracts and we’re pleased to be supporting them to deliver quality pipeline production. Our Abu Dhabi laboratory has the capabilities and capacity to provide the required technically demanding qualifications on time, while managing McDermott’s high volume of activity.”
