EM&I has been awarded a life extension study by a US-based independent energy company for a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) offshore Gabon, West Africa.
Many ageing FPSOs require life extension studies to prolong their operational life. EM&I have 35 years of experience in the asset integrity management industry, having worked on multiple offshore assets.
This is a helpful service for clients considering extending the operational life of assets or deciding whether to purchase an ageing asset. EM&I have carried out similar studies for a Brazilian oil company.
With the company’s experience of inspecting and maintaining several aspects of FPSOs (including the hulls, valves, pipework, pressure vessels, ex items and anchor chains), as well as leadership of the joint industry project for hull inspection techniques and strategy on behalf of the global FPSO Research Forum, they are in a strong position to undertake life extension studies.
