Trelleborg’s marine systems operation and Teekay Marine Solutions, one of the world’s largest marine energy, transportation, storage and production companies, are launching HALO Fenders, a new premium pneumatic fender offering focused on meeting the demands of the Ship to Ship (STS) transfer market and the wider marine industry. The offering combines the strength and experience of the two companies, bringing together Trelleborg’s manufacturing capability and Teekay’s operations expertise.

The HALO offering will provide customers with a single point of contact from product specification, to delivery, through to comprehensive field services, including fitting of chain tire nets, maintenance of fenders and provision of all required certification and documentation to meet major oil company requirements. A wide range of HALO Fenders, fully compliant with ISO 17357-1:2014, will be stocked in strategic locations around the world, allowing fast and convenient delivery. Fenders will be available to buy or rent and backed up by exceptional technical and service support.

Richard Hepworth, President of Trelleborg’s marine systems operation, said: “Whatever the cargo being transferred, ship to ship mooring demands exceptional levels of safety, reliability and responsiveness to guarantee efficient and cost-effective operations across the world. That means selecting and maintaining an appropriate fender system, and being able to mobilize it quickly. With HALO Fenders, we hold stock in three strategic locations to ensure fast global delivery, and have 32 rental and service bases with a fleet of 400 fenders to ensure we can provide fast, local maintenance and repair.

“Working with Teekay, we’re able to provide a premium offering that enables operators to source, deploy and maintain pneumatic fenders safely and efficiently, with a reassuring service structure that ensures these high quality solutions are supported for the life of the project.”

The expanded HALO offering also extends to enhanced commercial support, including options to both purchase and rent fenders, so that operators can align solutions to their operations and financial situation, selecting whichever option best fits their overall needs.

Tim Horne, President of Teekay Marine Solutions, said: “We are offering customers the option to buy or rent from globally available stock. Rental can either be on a long or short term basis. We also offer a ‘buy-back’ option or even to buy previously used fenders in selected cases. Of course if customers want to buy a bespoke fender size or type, then the Trelleborg manufacturing facility will always be able to meet their needs in a timely and cost effective way.”

Ozlem Kir, Business Development Manager of HALO Fenders, commented: “This commercial flexibility is intended to help owners and operators maintain efficient logistics and improve supply chain excellence. Both our companies are committed to providing the highest quality standards, to ensure safe and efficient marine operations, from the product itself to the supporting services.”
