The new Northern Cascadia Subduction Zone Observatory (NCSZO) will use a “seafloor GPS” network to monitor long-term movements of the subducting Juan de Fuca plate and overriding North American tectonic plate.

The expansion follows the awarding of a contract to lay the first ever subsea pipeline using mechanical connectors offshore Malaysia.
The engineering work is expected to begin immediately, and the contract will be reflected in McDermott's 2Q19 backlog.
