API President and CEO Jack Gerard cited the real benefits that the increased use of natural gas is bringing to Ohio, especially when it comes to powering homes and businesses.

“Ohio is already feeling the benefits of increased production and use of natural gas. The price of natural gas for electric generation has dropped by over 50% and over 30%for businesses,” said Gerard. “Lower energy costs is just one of many benefits that natural gas is bringing to Ohio consumers and businesses made possible by the technological advancements in hydraulic fracturing.”

API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million US jobs and 8% of the US economy. API’s more than 650 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 30 million Americans.
