Storage and inspection firm awarded ISO 14001

A North-east storage and inspection firm has been awarded an internationally recognised certification, due to its commitment in managing the environmental systems of its tubular supply base.
Independent Oilfield Services (IOS), which has drawn upon 20 years experience in OCTG and drillpipe inspection, secured its ISO 14001 accreditation following a comprehensive audit by DNV GL. The firm was assessed on its environmental policy, location and condition of its tubular supply yard in Peterhead, as well as the nature of activities and services carried out at the yard.
Environmental management system
ISO 14001 is an international standard that covers the design and implementation of an environmental management system (EMS), which aims to ensure businesses focus on their environmental impact, supported by effective management processes. This certification has allowed IOS to identify and assess its environmental impacts and make improvements to reduce waste and become more cost efficient for the benefit of its clients.
The firm, which has just completed its first year of trading, has secured two ISO standards: 9001 and 14001, as well as OHSAS 18001. The accreditations follow the IOS’ commitment to implementing health, safety and environmental policies and procedures into its operations, as well as ensuring robust quality management systems are in place.
