A pipeline demonstration centre

Oilfield Technology,

  • Current state of the art and emergency management in the Siemens Pipeline Demo Center.
  • International expert meeting on the operation of pipeline systems from 5 – 7 October in Würzburg, Germany.
  • Focus is on control and security systems and strategies on extending the life expectancy of pipeline systems.

In the Pipeline Demo Center in Fürth, recently opened by Siemens, the participants of the international expert meeting, ‘Operation of Pipeline Systems’ will be able to simulate the state-of-the-art technologies, as well as emergency scenarios, on a model pipeline system. The ‘Master Center’ permits the collection of pressures, temperatures, flow rates and vibrations, as well was extensive control options. In simulated emergency scenarios, these functions can also be assumed by a self-sufficient ‘Disaster Recovery Center’. In addition to these control and security systems, an essential focus of the event will be on strategies for an extension of the life expectancy of pipeline systems - an issue on which the international participants, in particular, want to learn from the experiences in Germany. The speakers invited on this issue, from VNG, E.ON Ruhrgas and Siemens, will put up for discussion theoretical backgrounds as well as practical sample applications in a total of three days from 5 – 7 October, 2009 in Würzburg, and will allow the international group of participants an opportunity to talk with experts.
