Mari Petroleum Company Ltd (MCPL) has announced the discovery of a new reserve of oil and gas in Kalabagh’s Karak block of Mianwali district, Punjab, India.

During testing, the well flowed in the Datta formation at a rate of 3.3 million ft3/d of gas per day and 160 bpd of condensate.

“The new discovery is expected to add significantly to the nation’s hydrocarbon reserve base, contribute to foreign exchange savings and bridge demand and supply gap,” Mari Petroleum said in a press release.

This discovery is the second made by MCPL in Kalabagh’s Karak block and is expected to save foreign exchange.
