ABS appoints Chief Scientist

ABS, a provider of maritime and offshore classification services, has announced the appointment of Dr. Richard Korpus as Chief Scientist, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In the Chief Scientist role, Korpus will support the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the organisation through his focus on developing and applying CFD technology.

"We see technology as the road forward," says ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki. "It is a fundamental part of our business strategy, and Richard will be integral to keeping ABS in a technology leadership position."

The creation of this Chief Scientist position is the most recent step in the continuing process of technology investment at ABS.

Proserv appoints country manager in Nigeria

International energy technology services company Proserv has reinforced its expanding global reach by appointing a country manager in one of West Africa's fast-emerging provinces.

Olu Phillips takes up the post in Nigeria where Proserv has experienced rapid growth in demand for its integrated services and specialist technology.

Olu, who has extensive experience in the African and international marketplace, will be responsible for overseeing the company's operations in the region.

ROMAR International continues to Strengthen Team with Key Appointments

ROMAR International, an Aberdeen based provider of magnetic separation products and oilfield services, has boosted its team with two key appointments.

Mark Bullmore and Zander Duncan join the team as Operations Manager and Workshop Supervisor respectively.

Martin McKenzie, Technical Director of ROMAR, said: “The appointments of Mark and Zander are key to ROMAR’s business strategy moving forward. Both are dynamic, highly skilled individuals with on and offshore experience who will assist in our on-going intention to offer our clients the best we possibly can as a company.

McCoy Global appoints VP Global Sales and Marketing and VP Technical and Product Development

McCoy Global has announced that, effective November 1, 2013, Kenny Watt, McCoy's current Vice of Global Service, will become VP Global Sales and Service; and Ron Roling, McCoy's current VP of Sales and Marketing, will become VP Technical and Product Development.

As VP Global Sales and Service, Kenny Watt will be responsible for both the Sales and Service groups. As VP, Technical and Product Development, Ron Roling will be responsible for the Technical and Product Development group, which provides technical expertise to customers and develops and implements strategies for new and existing McCoy products.

Omega appoints managing director to drive global growth

Omega Completion Technology has appointed John Donachie as managing director as the company plans for growth in key oil and gas locations in the UK and overseas.

Omega is an independent well completion and intervention equipment developer and manufacturer and launched in 1998. The firm employs 60 people at its 21 000 ft2 office and workshop in Kirkhill Industrial Estate and plans to recruit a further 20 people in the next year to support its growth. The company is experiencing a surge in demand from major operators in the Middle East where it has secured more than £1 million of new business in the last six months.

Chris McPherson Named ExproSoft Americas Sales Director

Christopher McPherson has been named Director of Sales, Americas for ExproSoft AS, a worldwide provider of well integrity management software. The announcement was made by Steve Greenland, Vice President Sales and Marketing.

McPherson will be based in ExproSoft's Houston office and will be responsible for sales activities in North, South and Central America.

Lars Sjobring Appointed Senior Vice President And General Counsel of Transocean Ltd

Transocean Ltd. has announced that Mr. Lars Sjobring has been appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Transocean Ltd. He will join the company upon completion of the notice period with his current employer and will be based in Geneva, Switzerland. In the interim, Mr. Allen Katz will continue to serve as the company's Interim Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

Mr. Sjobring's qualifications include over 15 years of law practice in international settings, and he received his education in both Europe and the United States.

Deep Casing Tools continues global growth following key appointments

Deep Casing Tools, which has an innovative range of tools designed to land casing and completions at target depth within oil or gas wells, has appointed Jason Henry and Magnus Wardle as Vice-Presidents of Business Development and Technology respectively, further strengthening the global team.

Magnus is a graduate of Brunel University and he has over 20 years of experience in various product development and technology management roles. His career includes roles with Elmar, Schlumberger, PSL, Halliburton Boots & Coots and most recently Engineering Director with Wireline Engineering.

National Oilwell Varco Announces Executive Management Succession Plan; Appointment of Clay Williams to Board of Directors

National Oilwell Varco, Inc. has announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Merrill A. “Pete” Miller, Jr. has informed the Board of Directors that he intends to step down from those positions contemporaneous with the completion of the previously announced plan to spin off to its shareholders its Distribution Business as an independent, publicly traded company. Mr. Miller will become the Executive Chairman of that publicly traded distribution company, which intends to operate under the name DistributionNOW, on the effective date of the spinoff.

The National Oilwell Varco Board of Directors announced that Clay Williams has been appointed to the Board of Directors and that it plans for Mr. Williams to succeed Mr. Miller as the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Williams has served as the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer since December 2012 and previously served as the Company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He served as Varco’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from January 2003 until its merger with the Company on March 11, 2005.
