FairfieldNodal and Schlumberger begin final phase of joint venture 3D survey in the Southern Delaware Basin

Right on schedule, FairfieldNodal and Schlumberger WesternGeco have begun data acquisition in the third and final phase of their Coyanosa Survey, a joint-venture multi-client project in the southern Delaware Basin of West Texas.

Phases I and II of the survey were completed in March and are currently being processed with an anticipated release in early Q3. Phase I consists of 316 square miles in Ward, Reeves, and Pecos counties; Phase II adds 282 square miles of the high-quality, 3D seismic data.

Phase III consists of 414 square miles of data in Pecos County, Texas, including the Bone Spring and Wolfcamp formations. Dawson Geophysical is providing all acquisition services for the Coyanosa Survey. They anticipate completion of Phase III by mid-September.

When this final phase is completed, Coyanosa will provide approximately 1000 square miles of regional seismic data to clients developing Bone Spring and Wolfcamp reservoirs in the prolific Southern Delaware Basin. This new data adjoins FairfieldNodal’s Barilla Draw and WesternGeco’s Unity Phase 1 and Jumano surveys, and is to be jointly licensed by both companies.

Joe Dryer, SVP and Chief Sales Officer at FairfieldNodal, believes the timing and location couldn’t be better. “FairfieldNodal is pleased to be working with our JV partner to provide nearly 1000 square miles of high quality 3D in a very active portion of the Southern Delaware Basin.” he said.
