UPI and SN3 collaboration

Aberdeen–based upstream design, consultancy and engineering contractor business, UniversalPegasus International (UPI), is collaborating with its sister company Stoller Newport News Nuclear (SN3) to offer its oil and gas clients’ nuclear industry decommissioning expertise.

The companies, which are both owned by Huntington Ingalls Industries, will collaborate to expand capabilities and strengthen reach globally in the growing oil and gas sector decommissioning market.

UPI offers its clients’ cost effective solutions, engineering and project management services to decommissioning projects and operations. It supports all aspects of the decommissioning process offering consultancy, engineering and project planning, regulatory compliance and cost estimating focused on the offshore, subsea and P&A sectors in particular.

Gavin Stevenson, UPI’s UK Managing Director, said: “We have been conducting decommissioning projects for our clients for a significant number of years now and given the current low oil price environment there is a growing demand for the services we provide which has also resulted in UPI conducting decommissioning services for projects we originally conducted detailed design for.

“The industry is challenged to bring a fresh approach to decommissioning and reduce costs. We believe this partnership allows UPI to offer SN3’s extensive nuclear decommissioning expertise to the UK oil and gas decommissioning market with focus on the nuclear industry supply chain collaboration experience and project planning expertise. Coupled with UPI’s extensive knowledge of the oil and gas decommissioning market, this collaboration offers the industry a unique offering that can facilitate cost reduction and simplification of future decommissioning projects.”

SN3 provides a wide range of services to its clients in the nuclear industry, and is an industry leader in providing the nuclear market with complex project management and integration services, nuclear engineering, regulatory compliance services, facilities management, waste handling and management to ensure safe completion and delivery.

UPI is a well-established and accredited ENR (Engineering News-Record) design and consultancy firm, which specialises in upstream and midstream oil and gas projects including; engineering and design, surveys, projects and programme management, construction management, inspection, operations and maintenance support, and concept, FEED, feasibility and economic studies. It is hoped that the new alignment will also secure its future within the nuclear platform.

Through UniversalPegasus International operations, it offers its clients in all the major oil and gas regions with particular emphasis on new sectors such as East Africa and South America. The firm employs 1000 experts to service its clients (oil and gas majors, service companies and energy organisations) globally, offering local knowledge and advice, when and wherever it is needed.
