When Nabors needed a supplier to provide a dual fuel solution for a project, it chose Cat® dynamic gas blending (DGB) technology and Cat dealer Mustang Cat. Committed to sustainability in its operations, Nabors is continuing the growth towards an environmentally-friendly well stimulation initiative. For pressure pumping sites throughout the nation, Nabors ordered 34x Cat 3512C (HD) engines retrofitted with the innovative Cat DGB technology. The engines are each rated at 2500 hp @ 1900 rpm and were delivered in a Separate Circuit After Cooled (SCAC) configuration.
“We chose to partner with Mustang Cat and Caterpillar because we know their products are reliable,” said Toby King, Nabors engineering manager. “The technology that they offer on their power solutions is miles ahead of the competition. The DGB kits are EPA-certified, reliable, and significantly lower fuel costs by up to 70%. When you couple those factors with the worldwide service positions Caterpillar offers through the Cat dealer network, it makes this is a great product for us and it helps our bottom line overall. We look forward to continuing our relationship and working with Mustang on upcoming projects.”
Mustang Cat, an authorised Cat dealer that serves 35 counties with locations throughout southeast Texas, is the primary dual fuel power solutions supplier for Nabors. Cat DGB kits have become the preferred dual fuel technology of choice throughout the well stimulation industry due to the proven results the DGB kits have generated in the field. The DGB kit automatically adjusts to changes in incoming fuel quality and pressure allowing engines to run on a wide variety of fuels, from associated gas to vaporised LNG with no loss of performance integrity. Mustang Cat supports DGB kits through its network that offers comprehensive parts and service availability, and all factory-packaged components are covered by Caterpillar’s industry-leading one-year parts warranty.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Nabors to supply equipment that is high in quality and efficiency to power its well services operations,” said Mark Reed, Mustang Cat general manager of exploration. “As DGB kits continue to become a major component for our oil and gas customers, we look forward to developing similar supplier relationships in the southeast Texas region to provide solutions fueled by Caterpillar.”
