An advanced simultaneous injection of Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) in combination with technical plastics, which has revolutionised high-tech fields of application, is to be showcased at a technical road show.
The event, which will travel across the UK and Ireland, will give industry experts a chance to learn more about the pioneering technology capabilities developed by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions.
Design engineers from Trelleborg will provide consultations, answer questions and offer specialised technical training at the 2016 Technical Roadshow.
Trelleborg is the world’s leading exponent of precision LSR and Two-Component (2C) manufacturing processes and tooling technology.
The capabilities of LSR can be applied to numerous industries and have already been adopted by medical combination product manufacturers for self-treatment of chronic ailments.
Demand is also high in the automotive industry for super-clean and integrated LSR components as the expectation for electronic driver comfort features continues to rise.
Ursula Nollenberger, LSR Components Product Director for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, said: “We are extremely proud of the LSR technology that we have developed and is being adopted by major production industries.
“We have seen exponential growth in the market particularly into high-tech fields where the technology can meet the manufacturing and design challenges thrown up by complex applications.
“Commonly referred to as 2K, 2-shot, multi-component injection molding, or co-injection we are able to combine two, three or more individual materials into one fully bonded, robust component.
“We believe the potential of the LSR technology capabilities is endless, which is why we are showcasing its benefits and demonstrating how it can be applied and utilised by any industry on our UK road show.”
The simultaneous 2C LSR process is available in many hard-soft and soft-soft combinations including multi-color and multi-hardness options and is extremely efficient for high production volumes.
LSR multi-component solutions removes the risk and cost associated with secondary assemblies and provides a robust and cost-effective design solution.
The UK and Ireland tour will take place between Monday June 13 and Friday June 24, with companies invited to request a visit.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is one of the world’s leading developers, manufacturers and suppliers of precision seals.
It supports its aerospace, industrial and automotive customers through over 20 production facilities and more than 40 marketing companies globally.
