Two of Merlin ERD’s senior personnel have received Drilling Engineering Awards from The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Neil Armstrong, engineering manager, won the North Sea regional award, while senior ERD engineer, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, scooped the Russian and Caspian regional award.
The awards recognise technical and professional contributions to the advancement of petroleum engineering in drilling and production. SPE is a key organisation in the upstream oil and gas industry that promotes technical innovation and learning.
Both Armstrong and Zharkeshov were selected independently for their contributions to delivering transformational technical improvements, reducing project cost, time and risk. They have shared their insights with their peers through technical papers and at global SPE events.
Merlin ERD’s Managing Director, Iain Hutchison, commented: “It’s great to see another two of our Chartered Engineers (IMechE) gaining the industry recognition that they deserve.”
