Aquaterra Energy announces Equinor work for Johan Sverdrup

Johan Sverdrup is one of the largest offshore oil fields on the Norwegian continental shelf, with estimated reserves of up to 3.1 billion boe. As an early-stage development, Equinor requires a comprehensive solution for efficient and effective pre-drilling operations and a subsequent platform tieback to minimise time to first oil.

Selected for its technical capabilities, end-to-end approach and agile team, Aquaterra Energy will engineer and supply nine complete strings of centralisers, associated equipment and tieback engineering expertise.

Well Start handles all early well construction activities including third-party interfaces, engineering and equipment. Aquaterra Energy’s unique approach streamlines the supply chain, which minimises the risk of delays, offering operators multi-million dollar savings in rig time and resources.

Christian Berven, Norway Business Development Director at Aquaterra Energy, said: “Johan Sverdrup could be one of the biggest industrial projects Norway will see in the next 50 years. We’re proud to play a role in developing this prestigious field, which is testament to our team’s engineering expertise both locally here in Norway and the UK. Our intelligent approach will reduce the time to first oil while maintaining high quality operations, leading to significant savings.”

Aquaterra Energy will manage the work from its headquarters in Norwich and its recently-opened Stavanger office. The company is set to deliver the work in Q3 2018, with the first phase of production scheduled for late 2019.
