New appointments in the upstream oil and gas sector

Some recent appointments (January 2015) in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Gemma Postlethwaite and Dr. Gary N. Ross, PIRA Energy Group

PIRA Energy Group, a leader in global energy market analysis, announced today that Gemma Postlethwaite, the company’s current COO, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. Dr. Gary N. Ross, PIRA's founder and current CEO, will become Executive Chairman and will continue to lead the company’s oil group.

“Since Gemma came on board as COO in early 2014, she has had a transformational impact on the business,” said Dr. Ross. “She has a keen sense of how clients’ needs are changing and how best to address those needs. In a short period of time, we’ve rebuilt our online platform and created a roadmap for better delivering data and analysis to more types of energy professionals. Stephen Sheppert, Engineering Manager, Wellsite Rental Services, LLC

Wellsite Rental Services, LLC, a comprehensive, rental equipment provider for the drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry, has appointed Stephen Sheppert as engineering manager.

Sheppert’s responsibilities include engineering support for all of Wellsite’s product lines with primary focus on the Hydraulically Operated Flush Mounted Slips for tripping drill pipe.

“We are pleased to add Stephen’s mechanical expertise to our team,” said Kirby Arceneaux, Wellsite Rental Services chairman. “With 15 years of industry experience and Stephen’s hands on knowledge in the area of Flush Mounted Slips will greatly benefit our company.”

Adrian Bannister, CFO, OEG Offshore

OEG Offshore, a leading global provider of offshore cargo carrying units and A60 engineering cabins, today confirms Adrian Bannister has been appointed as chief financial officer (CFO) of the OEG Offshore group of companies.

Mr Bannister will assume responsibility for the group's global finance team activity, including accounting, taxation, regulatory and reporting matters for OEG worldwide. 

Mr Bannister is a non-executive director at Cortez Subsea Ltd and also holds a governor and chair position on the finance committee of St Margaret’s School for Girls in Aberdeen.

Jim Standley, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers

The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers increased its government relations program with the retention of 30-year veteran Jim Standley effective Jan. 1, 2015.

"Jim is a senior government relations executive with more than three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry," Alliance Chairman George Rogers said.

"Jim will be a great addition to our government relation team," Alliance President Alex Mills said. "He will be working with former Congressman Charlie Stenholm, former Railroad Commission Executive Director John Tintera, former Texas Department of Insurance General Counsel Gloria Leal, Railroad Commission communications specialist Katie Carmichael, and long-time lobbyist Bill Stevens. Jim can step right in on the most complex of state and federal issues."

David Currie, CEO, JDR

JDR is pleased to announce the appointment of David Currie as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors, effective 12 January 2015.

David is an accomplished industry leader with nearly 30 years’ experience in the global offshore energy industry, most recently the UK Regional President for Aker Solutions. Previously to that he spent the bulk of his career at FMC Technologies where he held a range of senior positions, the last of which was Director of Global Subsea Operations.

David will focus on developing JDR’s commercial opportunities, creating new opportunities for the company’s industry-leading products and services; from subsea production umbilicals, IWOCS and power cables to aftermarket and installation services. David will be based in the UK, travelling frequently between JDR’s key oil and gas markets around the world.

Dr James Mataragio, Director General of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC)

Bell Geospace is pleased to announce that one of their valued geoscientists, Dr James Mataragio has been appointed to the post of Director General of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) by President Jakaya, effective 15th December 2014. During his tenure at Bell Geospace, Dr Mataragio has been exposed to a variety of mineralisation and hydrocarbon projects, which have contributed to the skill set and experience required by TPDC for the role of Director General.

Scott Hammond, CEO of Bell Geospace, says “While we will be sad to lose such a valued member of our geoscience team, we are delighted that James is going on to such an important role in the future of petroleum development in Tanzania, and this appointment is a tribute to the sterling work that he has done, both for Bell Geospace and prior to studying for a PhD his work in Tanzania for Anglo Gold and Anglo American. We will be following his progress with great interest, and are sure that he will bring a breadth of skill and experience to this role that will ensure that TPDC has a significant impact on exploration and production in Tanzania”.

Tracy Cummins, Vice President of Key Account Management, Greene’s Energy Group, LLC

Greene’s Energy Group, LLC (GEG), a leading provider of integrated testing, rentals and specialty services, has promoted Tracy Cummins to Vice President of Key Account Management.

Based in Houston, Cummins will lead the Key Account Management team that will work with our key customers to package services, improve efficiencies and deliver value. This will ensure our customers get the highest quality service, meeting and exceeding our customers’ and Greene’s goals.

Steve Marinello, PhD, Director of CnF Applied Technology, Flotek Industries, Inc.

Flotek also announced the appointment of Stephen A. Marinello, PhD to the position of Director of CnF Applied Technology. In his role Dr. Marinello brings over two decades of reservoir engineering and completion experience to lead Flotek’s research team in expanding the application of its research to develop pragmatic solutions to specific oilfield challenges. In addition, Dr. Marinello will assist in the development of new CnF markets and new applications of CnF around the globe. He will also be an integral part of the team that develops research protocol and standards for the growth of FracMax Analytics, Flotek’s subsidiary that will provide customised research based on the FracMax platform.

Rod Starr, CEO, Polarcus Limited

Polarcus Limited announces that the Board of Directors (the "Board") has, following a comprehensive selection process, chosen Rod Starr to succeed Rolf Ronningen as Chief Executive Officer of Polarcus. Rolf Ronningen, who informed the Board of his planned retirement in 2014, will continue as Chief Executive Officer until Rod takes up his appointment, expected early 1Q15.

Rod Starr joins Polarcus from TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company. He has over 30 years industry experience, starting his career with Unocal where he spent 16 years in various planning and financial roles before moving into the oil services sector where he has held senior sales, business development, marketing and managerial positions. Prior to joining Polarcus, Rod served as Senior Vice President Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific and most recently Senior Vice President Western Hemisphere at TGS.

Andrew Pointing and Alan Clifton, LOC Group Ltd

LOC Group Ltd (London Offshore Consultants) has appointed Andrew Pointing into the newly created role of Group Director, Marine Assurance and Risk.

This new position is part of an ongoing restructuring process which sees LOC creating a number of group-wide roles to ensure its business sectors are fully coordinated across regional boundaries. The company recently created a Group Director for Shipping Services and Group Director for Energy Services.

Alan Clifton takes over from Andrew Pointing as Managing Director, LOC Norway. Alan joined LOC in 2002 from Aker Kvaerner and in his former role as Operations Director he had been involved in managing the majority of the many marine warranty projects handled by LOC Norway. 

Dr. Charles Woodburn, Director, Seadrill Limited

The Board of Seadrill Limited is pleased to announce that Dr. Charles Woodburn has been appointed as a Director of the Company.

Woodburn holds a PhD and MA in Engineering from Cambridge University and an MBA from Erasmus University.

John Fredriksen, Chairman of the Board of Directors said, "The Board is very pleased that Dr Woodburn has decided to join our Board. He brings valuable expertise and industry knowledge and we look forward to his contribution to the Company's future development".
