Dresser Masoneilan® today announced that it has been awarded US$ 10 million in control valve contracts in China for CPR-1000 reactor plants under construction in Hongyanghe, Ningde, Yangjiang and Fangchenggang.

Dresser Masoneilan will provide the four nuclear power plants with variable resistance trim (VRT) control valves, offering high controllability, extended valve life and maximum cavitation protection.  “Our nuclear power customers in China rely on us to help them improve plant operations with the technical advantages and reliability our products offer and the comprehensive local after market support we provide,” said Eric Strecker, Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific, Dresser Inc.

In 2007, China planned to increase its nuclear capacity to 40 GW by 2020, but it will now realise this target five years early, so the country has decided to boost capacity to 70 GW, a Japanese government official quoted China's Zhang Guobao, head of the National Energy Administration, as saying last week. China currently has 11 working reactors with a capacity of 9 GW. China plans to build 28 new reactors according to Mitsuo Matsumoto, Director of Natural Resources and Energy Research at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
