PETEX technical and social programmes confirmed

Oilfield Technology,

With only nine weeks to go until PETEX begins the Organising Committee is delighted to confirm the full technical and social programmes, and the announcement that this year’s event will include a new PETEX Forum.

All parts of the industry are represented in the keynote line-up on day one, with addresses from Sir Ian Wood, Leader of UKCS Maximising Recovery Review; Richard Herbert, COO, BP Exploration; Nick Cooper, CEO, Ophir Energy; Jon Erik Reinhardsen, CEO, PGS and Oonagh Werngren, Operations Director, Oil & Gas UK, following opening addresses from PESGB Executive Director Guy Elliott, and PETEX Chairman Oliver Quinn.

After the keynotes the highly acclaimed PETEX technical conference will begin. 60 separate presentations, over three days, have been chosen by the 7-strong Technical Committee from submitted abstracts. This year’s conference topics include talks on new frontiers across the globe, maximising production in mature fields, as well as a wide variety of technology presentations.

The highlight of Thursday’s programme will be the new PETEX Forum. This fully-interactive, technology-enabled session will be examining the Technical Feasibility and Potential of UK Shale Gas. Leading professionals will put the case and then participate in a Question Time-style panel debate chaired by Professor Iain Stewart, published author and well-known face of geology on the BBC.

The exhibition is the largest ever, thanks to the new venue at Excel, London. Over 130 exhibitors, including exploration and production companies, service companies, government departments and industry bodies will be vying for attention over the three days of the event. Other must-sees include the 3D Visualisation Theatre, Collaboration Showcase and Technical Posters.

No PETEX experience is complete without the lively social programme. This year’s offering includes a cocktail party, the invitation-only exploration manager’s lunch, the euphemistically-named Evening Excursion with brand new destinations, the student lunch and the final Sundowner event.

This three day event takes place from 18 - 22 November at Excel, London.
