Scientific Drilling International names new President

Scientific Drilling International has announced the appointment of Phil Longorio as President of the company and its affiliates.

Longorio will be based at the corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas, and will oversee all of Scientific Drilling’s disciplines focused on technology and service in the directional drilling, wellbore surveying and production logging markets.

Company CEO, Bill Wade, commented: “We are delighted to have added Phil to our executive team as we aim to strengthen our position in the wellbore placement industry. Phil’s distinguished career and experience will bring a new and exciting element to our team”.

Oil and gas experience

Longorio has over 35 years experience in the oil and gas industry, and has held various executive management positions with both major and independent oil service companies. Longorio joins Scientific Drilling after a six year tenure as the Senior Vice President for TETRA Technologies, where he was responsible for their Energy Services and Chemicals divisions.

Prior to joining TETRA, Longorio served as President and CEO of WellDynamics B.V., a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell Technology Ventures providing intelligent well technology. From December 1999 through February 2004, he served as Vice President of Halliburton Energy Services responsible for their Sperry Sun Drilling Services Unit, following a variety of executive management roles within the Halliburton enterprise.

Longorio is a US Air Force veteran and active member in the Houston oil and gas community as a member of the SPE and SPWLA.
