InterMoor wins contract with LLOG in the Gulf of Mexico

Oilfield Technology,

InterMoor, an Acteon company, has won a contract for design, fabrication and installation of 12 suction pile anchors, pre-set installation of 12 chain/polyester/chain mooring lines and hook-up of the LLOG Delta House production semi-submersible (the floating production system [FPS]). The work will be conducted in the Mississippi Canyon 254 block of the US Gulf of Mexico.

The project will involve suction pile design, fabrication and installation, followed by pre-set mooring installation and pre-set mooring hook-up of the FPS. The 12 piles will be 85 ft long and 16 ft in diameter weighing approximately 150 t each. They are designed to be used as permanent anchors for the project. Installation activities are planned for mid-2014. Delta House will be moored in 4500 ft of water and is LLOG’s second Exmar-designed Opti deep-draft, semi-submersible production system in the region.

Large deepwater mooring projects around the world
Tom Fulton, InterMoor’s President, states, “Our approach to the award process involved paying close attention to the client’s needs – which included comprehensive engineering, design, fabrication and installation procedures and plans – and preparing a detailed proposal that broke out each phase of the work scope. This project will add to InterMoor’s already strong track record for permanent moorings which includes some of the largest deepwater mooring projects around the world, including Kikeh, Shell Auger, ATP Mirage and the Williams Gulfstar FPS.”

Fabrication of the 12 suction piles for the LLOG Delta House will take place at InterMoor’s 30 000 ft2 Morgan City, LA, facility. The ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001 certified site includes two fabrication buildings complete with engineering and design capabilities.

The Delta House host facility, an EXMAR technology, will have a production handling capacity of 100 000 bpd of oil, 240 million ft3/d of gas, and 40 000 bpd of water. Initial production from MC 254 field will be established in Q1, 2015.
