Petrotechnics, the leading provider of operational performance and predictive risk management solutions announced today that Teekay Petrojarl has gone live with the Proscient operational performance and predictive risk platform on its Voyageur Spirit asset in the North Sea.

The Voyageur Spirit Proscient go live kicks off the global deployment of Proscient across Teekay’s fleet of FPSOs in the UK and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea and in Brazil.

Teekay Petrojarl selected Petrotechnics after a lengthy competitive tendering process. Teekay came to the market searching for a way to standardise and systemise safe work across their FPSO assets in the North Sea. Teekay also wanted to explore the options available for deploying a solution that could proactively support the optimisation of their operational environment in what they identified as “harsh conditions”.

With a particular focus on standardising best practice and reducing operational risk, Teekay rapidly identified requirements and capabilities beyond traditional ePTW tools. The Proscient solution addressed their immediate needs but more importantly provided them the optimum platform for their longer term goals of optimising their FPSO operations. In addition Teekay selected Petrotechnics as the most capable and best-suited partner to ensure on time delivery and an ongoing source of expertise to support their long term production optimisation goals.

The Voyager Spirit is the first of 10 assets scheduled to go live with Proscient over the next 10-15 months. The project will support over 1k users and will provide the platform for the next stages of the Teekay operational excellence programme which will include the impact of process safety barrier impairments on frontline operational activity.

“Our selection of Petrotechnics was based on three key points: Firstly, they had the best technology solution which met our needs’. Secondly and arguably most important, they had the best implementation model and the experience to back it up.” said Operations Strategy and Support Manager, Roar Bye. “Thirdly, Petrotechnics’ references were excellent and very much spoke to the strength and depth of their capabilities. They came across as the ideal partner and this go-live is the first tangible example of our ongoing partnership.”

“Reducing operational risk and improving productivity don’t have to be mutually exclusive,” said Iain Mackay, Vice President of Petrotechnics. “We’re proud of the partnership we have with Teekay Petrojarl and the positive impact Proscient will have in helping them more effectively manage, optimise and execute operational activity across their global fleet. Together we have taken a bold step to making safer, but more effective production a reality in harsh operating environments”, added Mackay.
