Oilfield Technology,

The Energy Industries Council (EIC), the leading trade association for UK companies that supply goods and services to energy industries worldwide, is delighted to announce that AMEC with technology partner DAI has won the EIC Award for Supply Chain Excellence 2014.  The EIC Award for Supply Chain Excellence recognises an EIC member organisation that has demonstrated superiority within the energy supply chain and the AMEC team beat tough competition from over 22 excellent submissions from EIC members. The award was presented by the EIC’s Honorary President, Lord Howell of Guildford, at the EIC National Dinner on 16 October 2014, in front of 550 EIC members and guests at the Natural History Museum in London.

AMEC and DAI’s “Track and Trace” product (which uses cutting edge industry leading tracking technology) offered a compelling case to win the competition. It offers an exceptionally valuable product development which will substantively help operators drive waste and inefficiency out of their logistics and materials management activities for onshore and offshore operations and across their supply chains.  The EIC judging panel considered AMEC’s Track and Trace product a great example of cost leadership, streamlining and efficiency drive essential to help deal with the unprecedented challenges facing the UK upstream oil & gas sector as highlighted in Sir Ian Woods’ recent report.

The AMEC submission was representative of a company whose ethos fully embraces the collaborative principles of the UKCS PILOT Supply Chain Code of Practice and looking forward, AMEC’s Track and Trace product has significant global reach potential. Colin Taylor of DAI Energy said, “Having successfully deployed Matflo technology in other industry sectors, and witnessed the performance improvements achieved, DAI always held the belief that we could deliver similar benefit to the Oil& Gas Industry. Our thanks go to AMEC for wholeheartedly sharing that vision and taking it forward in what has been a truly collaborative engagement. This recognition from the EIC is such a fantastic endorsement of our partnership, and we are all truly delighted”. Alick Watt, AMEC Operations Director said, “This is a great result for both AMEC and DAI, and well-deserved recognition of our collaboration.  We know how important cost reduction and working differently in the North Sea is, and the application of our track and trace technology is a powerful example of how working together can deliver just that.”

In addition to an outright winner this year, the judging panel also highly commended the entry from Cape Environmental Services.

Cape put forward for consideration a substantive and innovative new supply chain product offering - a ‘Torpedo unit’ which is an environmentally safe caisson cleaning system which operates below the sea level to reduce scale and marine growth. Cape’s new market offering in this regard has already proven itself to be commercially viable with a number of the Upstream sectors independents - clearly satisfying their needs. Additionally, Cape’s product showed clear evidence of making a positive contribution to environmental impact.

Congratulations to all finalists and the EIC looks forward to the 2015 Awards. The EIC Award for Supply Chain Excellence 2015 will be open for entries in January 2015.
